Band Instrument Repair Program - Instructors

Brian DeGayner became a full time instructor at Minnesota State College Southeast in 2022. He graduated from the band instrument repair program in 2016. He then worked for several Minnesota-based instrument repair companies, including Twin Cities Instrument Repair, Midwest Musical Imports, Eckroth Music and his home shop, primarily working with flutes, double reeds, and horns.

During this time, he served on the BIR Program Advisory Board at MSC Southeast and frequently visited the college as a guest speaker and substitute instructor. Brian is an active member of NAPBIRT and has presented clinics on double reed padding, silver soldering, and precision keyfitting.

In his own words: I am honored and excited to join the repair faculty at MSC Southeast in Red Wing. I take great care to prepare students for the workplace and provide resources and insight for thoughtful problem solving. This is a very rewarding industry, and I’m thrilled to be able to share this craft with future technicians.
